To
continue its commitment to promote academic excellence, service and
leadership, and to help address educational concerns, the University
of the Philippines (UPIS) is offering a two-part seminar-workshop
and demonstration teaching for elementary teachers entitled
“Upgrading Instructional Skills of Teachers (UPIS TEACH) II, which
will be held on January 9 & 16,2010 (Part 1) and January
23 & 30, 2010 (Part 2), at the UP Integrated School Building 1,
Katipunan Road, Quezon City.
UPIS
TEACH II aims to obtain a progressive and nationalistic perspective
in the teaching of the different content areas, become aware of
other effective alternative teaching strategies in presenting
concepts and skills, and apply the suggested alternatives in
meaningful and relevant classroom
situations.
Simultaneous workshops will be held in the following subject
areas: Kinder – Grade 2 (Early Grades), CA English, CA Filipino,
Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Practical Arts, Health,
Physical Education, Music and Art. Registration will be on a
FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis due to limited number of slots.
A maximum of 30 participants per subject area will be
accommodated. The registration fee for each part is
Php2,000.00 per participant which will cover snacks, lunch,
instructional materials and handouts.

Admissions
Application for
Kindergarten entry to the UPIS for AY 2010-2011 is now open.
Application forms are being issued free of charge at the UPIS Office
of Research, Development and Publication (ORDP)
at the UPIS 7-10 Campus along Katipunan Ave. The forms will be issued
from January 18 to February 5, 2010, Monday to Friday,
8am-12nn and 1pm-5pm.
The Admission
guidelines, schedule of activities as well as the application
form (for children of Non UP Personnel only) can be downloaded
in PDF format [
here ]. Please print the forms on A4 sized
white paper.s
Applicants who are children of UP Employees must
secure their version of the application form directly from the UPIS
ORDP.
Note:
Please be advised that there is an
error in the KAT application form under the Qualifications section.
Applicants must be 5 ½ to 6 ½ years old by June 2010, NOT
2011.
